John Wooden was one of the greatest coaches of all time. Though he is most well known as a basketball coach, he saw himself as a teacher. His players would agree that they learned more about life than about basketball from the legendary coach. Most of Wooden's principals came from his upbringing as a young child in rural Indiana. These two lists were given to him on a card by his father when he graduated high school. He lived by these principals and passed them on to numerous people until his death.
