Wisdom From Wooden

John Wooden was one of the greatest coaches of all time. Though he is most well known as a basketball coach, he saw himself as a teacher. His players would agree that they learned more about life than about basketball from the legendary coach. Most of Wooden's principals came from his upbringing as a young child in rural Indiana. These two lists were given to him on a card by his father when he graduated high school. He lived by these principals and passed them on to numerous people until his death.

As you begin your week, give some thought to the 7 point creed and threes set. Simple Principles such as these can have a profound effect on your life!

Wooden' 7 Point Creed

1. Be true to yourself.

2. Help others.

3. Make each day your masterpiece.

4. Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible.

5. Make friendship a fine art.

6. Build a shelter against a rainy day.

7. Pray for guidance and count and give thanks for your blessings every day.

Wooden's Two Sets of Threes

1. Never lie.

2. Never cheat.

3. Never steal.

1. Don't whine.

2. Don't complain.

3. Don't make excuses.
