The Paradoxical Commandments

ANYWAY

The Paradoxical Commandments

by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.

Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.

Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.

Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.

Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.

Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.

Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.

Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.

Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.

Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.

Give the world the best you have anyway.

The paradoxical commandments ask each reader, "if you knew that what you did today would not be appreciated would you do it?" For most individuals, this is a difficult question to answer. We all want to be appreciated and recognized for what we do. However, it is possible that we may not receive the appreciation we deserve.

As you go out this week, give your best without considering the outcome. Your life deserves your best. When it is all said and done, no one will ask you if your work was appreciated. They will ask you what did you do with your life. With the help of God, give the world the best you have anyway!

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Colossians 3:23-24
