The Difference
By Grace L Naessens
I woke up early one morning,
And rushed right into the day,
I had so much to accomplish,
That I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me,
And heavier came each task,
"Why doesn't God help me? "I wondered,
He answered, "You didn't ask."
I wanted to see joy and beauty,
But the day toiled on, grey and bleak,
I wondered why God didn't show me,
He said, "That you didn't seek."
I tried to come into God's presence,
I used all my keys at the lock,
God gently and lovingly chided,
"My child you didn't knock."
I woke up early his morning,
And paused before entering the day,
I had so much to accomplish,
That I had to take time to pray.
Though this poem was written over 80 years ago, it is probably more appropriate to our current time. So many things compete for our attention. Tasks at home, work, and life takes our free time in a way that it seems that there are not enough hours in the day.
Take time to make time!
A little bit of God goes a long way. Consider it "life happens" insurance. Though life will happen, God will help us adjust and navigate through it. As you go out this week, take a little time to prepare for your journey.
