Exodus 13:17-18

When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, "If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt." So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.

A pastor recently highlighted this scripture, and I want to share it with anyone who may feel they are on the long road. When we live life prayerfully, we should feel assured that our destination is in God's care. In the scripture above, God took the Israelites the long way on purpose. The quick way would have lead to war, and they were not ready for war. God's path led to the Red Sea, and though it seemed dangerous, God planned to use the Sea to fight their battle. The longer way led them to their promise. If you are on the long way this week, be encouraged, God will use your journey to prepare you for your promise.

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

2 Chron 15:7
